El valor del arte en la educación infantil: más allá de la creatividad

En la educación de los niños, muchas veces se priorizan áreas como matemáticas, lectura o ciencias. Sin embargo, el arte cumple un papel fundamental en el desarrollo integral, aportando beneficios que van mucho más allá de lo estético o lo recreativo.

Pintar, dibujar, recortar o crear no solo son actividades entretenidas: son herramientas clave para que los niños comprendan el mundo, expresen lo que sienten y desarrollen habilidades esenciales para su vida.

El arte como medio de expresión emocional

Durante la infancia, los niños no siempre cuentan con las palabras necesarias para expresar lo que sienten. El arte se convierte en un canal natural para comunicar emociones, pensamientos e ideas.

A través de colores, formas y texturas, los niños pueden manifestar alegría, frustración, curiosidad o incluso inseguridades. Este proceso no solo favorece la expresión, sino que también contribuye al desarrollo de la inteligencia emocional, ayudándoles a reconocer y gestionar sus sentimientos de manera más saludable.

Estimula la creatividad y el pensamiento flexible

El arte invita a los niños a imaginar, explorar y crear sin miedo a equivocarse. A diferencia de otras áreas más estructuradas, no existe una única respuesta correcta, lo que fomenta el pensamiento flexible y la capacidad de encontrar múltiples soluciones.

Este tipo de pensamiento es clave en la vida adulta, ya que está directamente relacionado con la innovación, la resolución de problemas y la adaptabilidad ante nuevos retos.

Desarrollo de habilidades cognitivas

Las actividades artísticas también estimulan procesos cognitivos importantes. Al dibujar o pintar, los niños trabajan habilidades como:

Además, al tomar decisiones durante el proceso creativo (qué color usar, cómo representar una idea, cómo resolver un error), fortalecen su capacidad de análisis y toma de decisiones.

Diversos estudios han demostrado que la participación en actividades artísticas está asociada con un mejor rendimiento académico y un desarrollo cognitivo más equilibrado.

Fortalece la confianza y la autoestima

Cuando un niño crea algo propio, experimenta una sensación de logro. No se trata de hacerlo “perfecto”, sino de valorar el proceso y el esfuerzo.

El arte les permite sentirse capaces, orgullosos de sus creaciones y más seguros al compartir sus ideas. Este refuerzo positivo impacta directamente en su autoestima y en la confianza que tienen en sí mismos.

El arte como herramienta para comprender el mundo

El rol de la familia en este proceso

El acompañamiento de los padres es clave para potenciar estos beneficios. No es necesario contar con materiales complejos o conocimientos artísticos avanzados; lo más importante es brindar espacios donde el niño pueda crear libremente.

Algunas recomendaciones sencillas:

Permitir que el niño explore sin miedo a ensuciar o equivocarse
Valorar el proceso más que el resultado
Evitar corregir o imponer “cómo debería verse” algo
Conversar sobre lo que creó y cómo se sintió al hacerlo

Estos pequeños gestos fortalecen la confianza y el vínculo familiar, además de fomentar una relación positiva con el aprendizaje.

Taking care of children’s mental health is just as important as taking care of their physical health. It is of utmost importance to clarify the planning of tasks in order to meet the objectives. The objectives we have will help us to plan the didactic sequences correctly. Likewise, it will help to obtain the contents that the teacher wishes to teach accurately. It is essential to have an in-depth understanding of the tasks, the subjects to be taught, the physical ages and maturity to achieve the acquisition and formation of the teaching judgments.

Planned education is established through the organization of plans and study programs for the subjects that encompass the different curricula. Consequently, the plans and study programs are a phenomenal guide for the tutor to ensure that students have learned effectively, taking into consideration the cognitive and specific skills to be addressed with each student.

When talking about the alignment of teaching, learning, and student assessment, other factors must be identified, such as the type of modality: virtual or face-to-face.

There are several reasons why student learning is compromised. One of them is the excessive importance of exams. It is clear that one of the main goals is the numerical measurement of the results that students achieve in a test or didactic exercise. In this case, the measurement must be conceptualized as an inclusive factor that does not only cover the score, as this score can sometimes be affected by exogenous or endogenous changes such as lack of sleep, diet, problems in interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships, among others.

On the other hand, if the obtained measurement is not as expected, it can be observed how parents and unprepared teachers take a negative and unfavorable judgment towards the student. This can cause rejection, anger, lack of self-confidence, and frustration on the part of the student towards studying. Additionally, it can have repercussions on the diagnostic formation and evaluation of knowledge.

The use of exams, partials, and tests is important for verifying knowledge. However, it should not be the final goal of learning as it generates a high peak of stress and the creation of stressful stimuli. If the evaluation is brief, it ends up reflecting little information. Similarly, the brain needs constant training and focus to work on neural connections.

Here are some important data about learning:

Learning must be autonomous and punctual.
Ideally, it should promote student motivation towards participation and execution of learning.
It should be challenging; the brain learns through repetition and effort.
It should provide feedback that is direct, fast, and dialogic.
The teacher should be prepared, committed, and participatory in teaching with empathy and passion.
The evaluation should reflect the real performance capacity and progress of the student being evaluated.
If the incorporation of changes and/or modifications is necessary, it should be done in such a way that cognitive skills are not affected.
There should be psychopedagogical knowledge among the teaching staff.

The learning process not only depends on the quality of information that the student receives, but also takes into consideration the factors that influence the comprehensive educational cognitive process. Regarding learning, the emotional factor tends to be ignored, later becoming a trigger that negatively impacts the student's academic formation .

Both educators and parents must work together with the aim of prioritizing emotions and feelings as a whole. Emotions are imperative and natural within all human beings. So, why are they treated as two separate terms?

Among the advantages of working hand in hand in emotional education, it has been identified that the management and control of emotions influence the learning process and daily performance. It is constantly observed that the poorer the management of frustration, anger, and stress, the more it affects the performance that one can have in different areas of life.

Among emotions, self-confidence, enthusiasm, curiosity, optimism, hopefulness, and satisfaction provide tools that can be used for better academic performance because they favor learning. Meanwhile, stress, anxiety, worry, and emotions related to jealousy, betrayal, disappointment, insecurity, and rejection are a disadvantage when it comes to being able to react assertively to daily life events.

Through understanding emotions, students learn how to manage what they feel in order to give them a sense of understanding where that feeling originates from, enabling them to handle attitudes in class towards their tutors and classmates.

On the other hand, a positive and empathetic environment in the classroom is significant. If the school environment is hostile, critical, and attacking, there are more chances that the student's performance and learning will be less favored.

A teacher with an empathetic attitude is a likeness of how the students under their care will be. It is of utmost importance to provide strategies and techniques for problem-solving in personal, social, and family life, not only in academic life, so that the student receives quality education. At Bibliotech, we not only focus on teaching the required subjects to the student but also promote their personal growth and human developement .

Activity to promote the work of executive functions and cognitive skills (attention and concentration):

Assemble a puzzle with time to try to complete it as quickly as possible. The puzzle must be assembled from memory.

First, the puzzle must already be assembled, which will be visualized for 15 seconds. Then, the pieces will be moved in order for it to assembled again. In this activity, it is necessary to time it so that we can identify how long it takes for the kid to complete it. This activity will work on visualization, memory, and motor skills.

To achieve a second level, the same dynamics can be performed by also adding visual or auditory distractions: While doing the puzzle, one can listen to music, watch a program, perform mathematical operations, or be accompanied by another person who will be moving the pieces. Doing two activities at the same time will help with guided, sustained attention, and detail. Likewise, the attention span of the students will influence their ability to maintain concentration on the tasks assigned.

Activity to promote the work of executive functions and cognitive skills (processing speed, divided attention, sustained and selective attention):

This activity will be done in pairs. For this game, cardboard letters, a set of letters, or printed letters will be needed.

With a partner, the letters will be randomly divided. One of them will start by choosing a letter. After a letter is chosen, the other person must choose another, and so on. Both people must make a word together. The game should be as fast as possible. Lik.ewise, this activity should be timed. This activity will influence the student's ability to perform school and homework tasks more quickly and effectively.

There once was a girl called Sarah, who loved sports. She was very active and could not stay still for a single moment. She was able to dribble a ball from a very young age and ran faster than all her cousins and friends put together. She had great potential to lead, thrive, and succeed. Sadly, her family was not very supportive and would often tell her to sit still and stop playing around with “boys’ things”. So, she eventually did. She conformed. She sat still and stopped doing what she naturally loved to do. With time, her hidden talent and suppressed nature took her in a direction she could have avoided had she been focused and well occupied. She became rebellious, angry, and full of self doubt. Like Sarah, so many people lack passion and purpose and are battling to find themselves in this vast world. They might be walking down the wrong paths and taking up bad habits that could cost them years of joy and health. This lack of identity could bring pain and suffering not only to them, but their families and loved ones as well.

Norman Vincent Peale, author and Psychologist said “Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.” No matter what we do, if we do it with all our might and determination, we can set higher standards for whomever comes after.

Could there be something to ensure success and well-being? Might it be as simple as having a healthy self esteem? There might not be an absolute answer, but apart from love, safety and other more common positive factors, goal setting and achievement does create a profound sense of pride and self-esteem at any age, especially in young people. It brings courage, satisfaction, focus and determination, that results in a healthier love of the self. When kids are supported and loved, they can achieve their goals, and change their lives for the better.

The role of education is vital: It goes further than learning to read and write, further than learning to add and subtract…. Education leads to the realization of the importance that each of us holds in life, and the realization of what we are here to do for ourselves, for our families and for the world.

Philosophers and later psychologists have long strived to find our purpose in this world, but it is an individual one. Each of us has specific gifts that make us unique and give us each a specific purpose to leave our trace in this world. Setting meaningful goals for ourselves and developing them over the span of our lives gives us a purpose that makes us a better version of ourselves. Goals foster a sense of purpose in us and can potentially change our lives and those of others around us. People who have set goals, have found cures to diseases, launched organizations, taught kids to read, united nations, inspired peace, and much more.

When we set out to do something, we can accomplish big things and improve the quality of our mental and physical health. Purpose is evolutionary and leads individuals to survive.

Purpose may come about from our individual perceptions, gifts and talents, and it will set us apart from other people—but that is only one side of the truth. Purpose also grows from our connection to others, which is why a lack of purpose can lead to isolation or depression. Once we find our path, our goal, our reason for being… we will certainly find others who are moving in the same direction. And basking in the path of our purpose, we can be greater than we ever thought possible. Blended Learning is a dynamic combination of classroom and virtualeducation. It is an educational model that provides our students with the necessary technological and academic tools to ensure effective academic preparation and professional success.Technology is a force that is constantly changing and with our Blended Learning technique, we make sure that our students can keep up with these changes, providing immediate feedback and updating the necessary information in real time. Our on-site training support is staffed by highly-skilled educators who reinforce with each student the importance of time management, following through on responsibilities, how to prioritize tasks, and teaching them to lead a proactive lifestyle.

In traditional school settings, students are treated equally and are held to the same standards, regardless of their situation. Some students end up being held back due to this style of teaching and others struggle to keep up. The advantage of Blended Learning Academy is that different programs can be adapted to the needs of each student. These students can learn side by side and maintain the socially rewarding experience of the classroom, while learning at their own pace.

Keeping class sizes small is another way to ensure students receive the individualized attention they deserve.No matter how a student learns, having the teacher's direct attention is a great way to keep them engaged and engaging with the topic.

While these opportunities are incredibly rewarding, planning for this change and ensuring your children's education can be nerve-wracking. How Depressive Symptoms Affect Student Academic Performance

There are several studies that show that learning is linked to the emotional development of students.Emotions have an impact on our knowledge of the world, motivate our actions when we interact with other people, and affect the functioning of our cognitive functions.

Aaron Beck, the founder of Cognitive Therapy, stated that negative automatic thoughts generated by cognitive distortions are the cause of depressive symptoms. Negative thoughts affect students' academic performance, as they tend to focus on situations in which they failed or did not measure up to some personal standard and ignore situations in which they succeeded.

One of the main symptoms of depression is anhedonia, or loss of interest or satisfaction in activities that were previously considered pleasurable. Due to this, adolescents who suffer from depressive episodes lose interest in studies and task completion, reflecting poor academic performance. Other commondepressive symptoms are difficulty falling asleep(insomnia)) and excessive sleeping. These cause fatigue and prone to inattention in students.
